Murphy’s Point to Kingston – 3 or 4 Days
If you know the northern areas of the Rideau, this trip will introdce you to the lower end.
Murphy’s Point is a convenient launch site, and once you pass through the Narrows Locks, you’ll be paddling downstream through some of the most dramatic landscapes of the entire system. This is a thoroughly enjoyable trip, and an eye-opener, as you pass through narrow channels and drop from the heights of the Rideau Lakes to Lake Ontario. The steep walls of locks at Jones Falls, the relaxing area around Chaffeys, and the overall sheltered nature of the trip make paddling a pleasure. Your only concern should be to keep out of the main channel, and give powerboats lots of space.
